You need to have GameSpy account to play multiplayer internet
If your old GameSpy account refuces to login, just stop fighting with it and make a new one because this game has issues with too old GameSpy accounts.
If you get error message about friends list when you try to log in GameSpy account, you need to remove some friends from your GameSpy account friends list or just create new GameSpy account with no-one on friends list.
To host and join multiplayer you have make sure you have public IP, because this game requires a lot of open ports (see manual page 17).

Marathon info:
There are 14 cooperative missions. Our goal is to complete them all without cheats in DIFFICULTY EXTREME, MULTIPLAYE MODE MIA and FRIENDLY FIRE ON
You need to be logged on GamSpy account ingame to play.
Because about 50% of all the people who play this game are using some program to cheat and have things like unlimited ammo, non-default ammo, selfresurrection, autoheal, body moving and so on, I decided to close this marathon from unknown players and only play with people who I personally know or who are know for their anti-cheat attitude. If you however are a player who has never used cheats in this game and you are known for that feel free to contact me through main page contact information.
To make it absolutely clear let me say it one more time: Using cheats is strictly forbidden and all cheaters are kicked and banned forever!

File called GameSpy.gsa there contains your GameSpy account login, password and email. So when reinstalling the game it is easier to just copy this to same place than trying to remember them.
Same folder also contains other files that include your player account game settings and singleplayer savegames.
Troubleshoot:
If you have Nvidia 8 series card or newer, you may see rainbow colors over multiple objects and you need to switch the following settings off:
VIDEO->ADVANCED SETTINGS->PIXEL PER LIGHTING OFF.

STATISTICS
At
first we decided to play with MULTIPLAYER MODE SURVIVAL setting, but
after multiple failures, we gave up because it was just so incredibly
hard to complete mission 2 BREAKOUT with that setting.
So we switched to MULTIPLAYER MODE MIA and re-played mission 1.
This is why you see here mission 1 screenshots and statistics twice.

SOME TIPS THE MANUAL DOES NOT TELL YOU
Medikit:
- Bradley, Jones, Connors, Foley and Sherman all use medikit different speed. Sherman and Foley are the fastest medikit users and then Jones. Connors and Bradley are quite slow.
- The fastest way to heal yourself is to choose Medikit from
inventory list with SPACE, press fire and then choose weapon. This
allows you to use weapon already when your health bar is still rising. (thanks to hf-bravo for this tip)
- There is a glitch
you can utilize to heal your teammate faster than Sniper. Press the
following
combination: 9 + mouse wheel
up + left mouse button. Immediately after that switch back to the
weapon. I do not use this myself
and I do not encourage using it since it is not obviously meant to
work that way, but also I will not kick for using it or forbid anybody
else to use it.
- Only use weapons that have star next to the weapon icon. This means that your character has special training on using that weapon and has better accuracy and less recoil when using it.
- Collect all ammo clips and do not leave any separate ammo behind.
Even if you don't need that ammo, your teammate may need it later on.
Remember your inventory is unlimited.
- C4s, Claymores and AT Mines can be shot to make them explode.
- Do not set C4 or Claymores too close to each other if you don't want them all explode same time.
- AT Mines destroy everything that touches them including you, your
teammates, enemy soldiers, tanks and other vehicles.
- AT Mines destroy un-moving tanks (and the one who sets them) when
set close enough
- Crouch + F to open door normally.
- Stand + F to open door quickly and loud (never use this, it will alarm enemies behind the door).
- Doors cannot opened when prone, cannot be blown away and cannot be closed.
- Some doors need door switch press to open and some doors need keycard + door switch press.
- Set Claymores on doors where you know enemies will spawn later on.
- In this mission it is possible to score many silent kills with
knifes and SD weapons if you go crouched to not to alarm them
- To clear the start location fortress without alarming more enemies use silent weapons to eliminate the following 5 enemies: one in front of the first trashcan, the second one walking on right behind the first trashcan, the third one left side walking away behind the second trashcan, the fourth one walking over the main gate and the fifth one walking between the garage and the main gate (go anticlockwise around the garage). NOTE! You need to move fast, because these enemies will be in different places if you let them move. Also the enemy must not fire a shot or otheriwise the alarm will go on and more enemies will spawn inside the storage houses.
- In this mission you all start with enemy weapons, so make sure to
collect all ammo for them
- Set C4 to ammo dump and when everything is cleared go to the bunker door and use C4
- Leave Claymores to stairs to eliminate enemies that spawn to the
cleared location and come after you
- In tunnels one player should always keep the back
- Sniper and/or Demolitions should collect all enemy UZIs
- In the movie theatre shoot the projector to blow it up.
- After the movie theatre, use grenade launcher to the arriving car and eliminate a sniper that is located in the roof of the opposite corner building. From now on do not leave the senator behind, because enemies will spawn behind you several times.
- After the helicopter has arrived, 2 enemies will come from the stairs you used when you came to the roof.
- In the metro station top floor one team member should lie down
and use the hole in the roof to eliminate enemies in 360 degree area
around the hole.
- After locating the bomb, make sure you have teammates lieing down in front of both entrances after the stairs, throw smokes one after another to cover the team, use thermal vision to see enemies attacking and lurking in the balconies and after the bombman disarms the bomb leave that place and go to the corners under the balcony to defend for the last attack wave.
