A4000 INTERNAL 4 PLAYER ADAPTER

(fits with minor changes to all Amigas that have Zorro/ISA/PCI-card slots in their case)

I made internal 4 player adapter for my first A4000 somewhere in the 90s, but only after about 10 years I finally wrote this guide. :)

Requirements:
Instructions:

Peel wires about 5mm from the D-connectors side and about 2mm from parallel port side.
Solder wires to D-connectors as described in the following table.
Signal
Parallel port Joy 3 Joy 4
Up 1 2 (1-red)
1
Down 1 3 (1-yellow)
2
Left 1 4 (1-green)
3
Right 1 5 (1-blue)
4
Up 2 6 (2-red)

1
Down 2 7 (2-yellow)

2
Left 2 8 (2-green)

3
Right 2 9 (2-blue)

4
Fire 2 11 (2-white)

6
Fire 1 13 (1-white)
6
Ground 2 18 (2-black)

8
Ground 1 19 (1-black)
8
Remove suitable backplate from a card and attach it upside down to D-connectors with wires.

Solder wires to parallel port according to the table. Solder them horizontally - not vertically like I did, because vertical soldering may lift your motherboard too high and make attaching it to the case harder .

Route wires from the right side of the motherboard to the card slots. If you have original A4000 power supply, you may have only few millimeters between motheboard edge and power supply. If you happen to have A4000cr Rev D motherboard,  route wires under detachable serial port flat cable.

Joystick port 3 and 4 should look something like this. In the picture below you can also see my internal automatic joystick/mouse switcher below 4 player adapter.
Joystick port 3 is on the right in this picture. This way joysticks 1, 2, 3 and 4 can be connected in clockwise order around the case.
